If you find that your GS-911 device's Power/Status LED is flashing RED, or after powering up it keeps blinking green rapidly rather than once per second (see https://www.hexgs911.com/connectors-buttons-and-lights/) your device's firmware is corrupt or it is in bootloader mode. Either the GS-911 Diagnostics PC App or the GS-911wifi Utility can be used to recover your devices firmware.
Recover using the GS-911 Diagnostics App for Windows
- Download the latest version of the GS-911 Diagnostics Application
- Close any instances of the legacy PC Application or GS-911wifi Utility that may be running.
- Open the GS-911 Diagnostics PC App if it is not already running.
- Plug the GS-911 device into USB to power it
- Select the device in the device list and perform a firmware update.
Recover using the GS-911wifi Utility for Windows or Mac
- Download the latest version of the GS-911wifi Config Utility.
- Close any instances of GS-911 PC Application that may be running.
- Open the GS-911wifi Utility if it is not already launched. You should see the device listed as below:
- Select "Check for updates" to check for recovery firmware.
- This should start the upgrade process to recover the firmware on the device, follow all the relevant prompts and if any errors or failures occur, click "OK" and attempt the forced recovery process described below.
- Once the upgrade is completed, click “OK”. You can now run GS-911 App or the GS-911wifi Utility as per normal and reconfigure/test the device.
Forced/legacy recovery using GS-911wifi Utility
- Unplug the device from the motorcycle and USB, ensuring that it is OFF.
- Press and hold the red(Wifi toggle) button and plug the device into USB to power it up, whilst holding the red button in.
- Release the red button after it is powered up. The Power/Status LED should now be green and blinking fast continuously (5 green flashes/sec)
- Open the GS-911wifi Utility if it is not already launched, then right click (left-click on Mac) on the WiFi utility icon in the system tray (bottom right on Windows by default, top right on Mac) and select "Check for updates". You might have to expand the system tray (by clicking the arrow) to view the Wifi utility icon hidden in the sub-section if you have not moved it.

- This should start the upgrade process to recover the firmware on the device, follow all the relevant prompts and if any errors or failures occur, click "OK" and retry the process from step 1. above.
- Once the upgrade is completed, click “OK”. You can now run GS-911 App or the GS-911wifi Utility as per normal and reconfigure/test the device.
