We are thrilled to announce the July 2026 update for the HEX GS-911! This month’s release introduces official support for BMW’s highly anticipated newcomer, alongside intelligent diagnostic enhancements and powerful setup adjustments designed to give you even greater control over your machine.
Whether you’re prepping for a rugged overland tour, tweaking your setup for the racetrack, or simply keeping your bike in top tier condition at home, this update ensures your GS-911 remains the ultimate garage companion.
The update will be available from Tuesday, the 30th June 2026 for ProUnlimited subscribers, and will roll out to all HEX GS-911 users from Tuesday, the 7th July 2026.
SOFTWARE UPDATE DETAILS:
The biggest news in this release is the arrival of dedicated support for the BMW F450GS. We have completely mapped out the bike's digital nervous system, meaning you can now perform full diagnostics on two of its most critical components right out of the box:
XBMSZ (Engine Control Unit): The "brain" that manages your engine's performance, fueling, and throttle response.
XABS2 (Anti-lock Braking System): The essential safety controller that keeps your wheels from locking up under heavy braking.
If you are one of the first lucky owners of the new F450GS, you can now check fault codes, clear service lights, and view real-time data just like you would on any other classic BMW GS.
The Autoscan function is the first thing you use when plugging in your GS-911—it sweeps across your entire bike to see what is healthy and what isn’t. We have given this feature several clever upgrades:
No More False Radar Warnings: For bikes equipped with adaptive cruise control, we’ve removed the VIN requirement from the XMRR (Distance Control Radar) module during scanning. This prevents annoying "VIN mismatch" false alarms from cluttering your scan results.
Service Details for Modern Cruisers & Roadsters: Owners of the latest R12nineT and R12GS models will now see comprehensive, granular details about their upcoming maintenance milestones right inside the Autoscan Bike Information panel.
Older-Gen Recognition: The software now fully recognises MA24 models natively during a scan, making vehicle identification faster and more accurate. Great for BMW classic models as the MA24 controller predates the K24 Chassis bikes.
Helpful Safety Prompts: If you accidentally start a scan and the engine module isn't responding (a missing engine signal), the GS-911 will now give you a clear warning message rather than a confusing error. Similarly, if your scan fails because the tool detects a lack of battery voltage (vBat), a helpful ‘Test Connector’ button will pop up to guide you through troubleshooting the connection.
Expanded Vehicle Order (VO) Options: For advanced users looking to configure or retro-fit factory accessories, we have expanded our VO library to accommodate more BMW factory option codes.
For the riders who like to get their hands dirty or fine-tune their bike’s behaviour, we have introduced several significant mechanical and software adjustments:
1. Wheel-Type Engine Coding (Road, Off-Road, or Race)
You can now alter the core engine coding to match the exact type of tyres or riding profile you are running. This adjusts how the engine interacts with your chassis dynamics. This function is available for:
XBMSX, XBMSO1, and XBMSMP1 (Engine Control Units): These units cover nearly every modern liquid-cooled BMW model over the last decade, including the powerhouse R1300GS / GSA / RT, the R12 / R12nineT / R12GS, the F900GS, and the S1000 series.
2. Better Suspension & Windscreen Calibrations
We have greatly improved the measurement and validation checks for the XCCP (Body Domain Controller). The XCCP is the system responsible for your bike's physical comforts. This improvement translates to smoother, more precise calibration procedures for:
DSA Ride Height & Suspension: Ensuring your semi-active suspension sits exactly where it should on the R1300GS or R1300GSA.
Electronic Windscreens: Ensuring flawless up-and-down limit calibration on touring giants like the R1300RT.
3. Safety and Reliability First
Running Engine Protection: To protect your bike’s delicate electronics, the GS-911 will now actively block any attempts to change engine coding or configurations while the engine is actually running.
Streamlined Backups: We’ve overhauled the coding backup and retrieval flows. Before making any changes to your controllers, the app makes it easier and safer than ever to save your original settings so you can revert back with total peace of mind.
